BEACH DAY!

August 16, 2009

The family went to Scusset Beach in Cape Cod.

We started off bright and early (around 7:30) and had breakfast at good old Dunkin Donuts. With our tummies full of chocolate glazed donut and armed with our trusty gps device (bah!) we ended up at the beach at around 10 o'clock. Scusset beach wasn't even our 1st choice, but thanks to our very confused gps device our estimated 1 hour driving time became close to 2 hours and we got to know the ins and outs of the city of Bourne. Thanks Tomtom!

"Are we there yet?"

Just look at those eye lashes.... I think she would have said "are we there yet?" also if she could.

Finally.... the beach! yeay! "where's the beach?" "I'm getting tired!" "where's the water?", "can you carry me?".... just a few of the question Andrew managed to ask as we walked down the looong boardwalk.... this was also my 1st time going to a New England beach and didn't expect this much walking from the parking lot to the actual beach...

Finally... the Beach! Spray the sunblock and off you go! I realized soon after we laid our blankets and towels that I was un-prepared for this outing. No shade! we never had to worry about this in Hawaii, where are the coconut trees? hmm... i guess it was too much to ask for..... I told you this was my first time in a new england beach. Well, I guess I'll be more prepared next time.

Checking out the water.

Lots of very wet sand to play with! yeay! (says Andrew and Allie). Allie loved it so much she was flinging the wet sand all over the place.... in the bucket, on the shovel, on her legs, on her head with a big, big smile on her sandy face. I woudn't be surprised if she'd eaten some while we're not looking

They both loved the water so much I felt bad telling them it was time to go....

So we packed up the kids, slowly walked back to the parking lot and took close to 15 minutes trying to get most of the sand off of the kiddies. Sand, sand EVERYWHERE you look! Every nook and cranny in Allie and Andrew were packed with sand!

By the time we were all half cleaned, it was time for lunch.... we plugged in the gps and hoped for the best. We ended up in Hyannis port at Baxter's fish and chips. Good fried clams, fried scallops, fried shrimp... you get the picture. We ate outside, looking at boats coming and going, under the shade of an umbrella because Andrew wanted to have a picnic.

Ooohhh, one of Andrew's favorites! Whenever we see one of this kind of ride (you know, the one that you have to put 50 cents in), he just has to ride it.

After lunch, it was time to go home! What a nice fun day at the beach! We should do this again.... hmmm, maybe next year .... from experience I know that the tan that I got today will last me ALL year and also, my sunburn is killing me!
