June 18 2009, Sunday morning, we headed of to the city of Boston to see the "Tall Ships". Parking was not a problem because we got there REALLY early. It did cost us $15. Boston Parking... what a rip off.... this is the reason why we don't go to boston more often.
our first stop, Old Ironside (USS CONSTITUTION). The oldest commissioned warship afloat. Unfortunately for us her deck is under renovation so we didn't really get to see her in her full majesty. they had a roof on the top deck and 3 of her 5 big poles that held the sails were off. Renovations won't be done till 2011, maybe we'll see her again then. It was actually really cool to see an old ship like that. The navy people had a system going so that only a few people are in the ship at a time so it's not so crowded and you can really talk and ask the guides on each deck.
Going down the decks were a bit nerve wracking, they were practically just ladders so Richard had to carry Allie in one arm while holding on to a rope on the other. It was a little scary for me and andrew also, I had to go infront of him just incase he came tumbling down. The deck where they had the cannons were cool. There were two up front that are still working, we didn't get to see it at work but the guide said they use it every morning, no ammo of course.

Finally, what we came here to see.... The Tall ships
Andrew didn't look too happy because he wanted to go on the boats. The lines were so long to get in on the boats that we decided to just admire them from the dock.
It was a long but fun and educational day. With all the walking we did that day, Andrew passed out in the car even before we got into the highway.
